Obituary from AJC:
Gregory Floyd West, 51, Canton, GA passed away Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Atlanta, he was the son of Lucina West and the late Edgar West. Greg trained to become a graphic designer, graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta. He went on to study fine art and painting under several regionally and nationally recognized artists including Ouida Canady, and Jim Schell.

Greg became a successful painter of oil portraits, and a highlight was the commissioning for portraiture of the large donors for the Ludwig Von Mises Institute, Auburn, AL., including the late Archduke Otto Von Habsburg. The fanfare surrounding those events led Greg to ballroom dance, and eventually to teaching dance. His passion for dance and his love of teaching made him a beloved, and sought after instructor.

Greg recently founded St. Augustine Anglican Catholic Church, and felt it was his proudest achievement. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Iredell-West, stepchildren, Jamie and Leslie, mother, Lucina West, brother, Alan and wife Brenda West, Allentown. PA. nephew, Lt. Gabriel West, Virginia Beach, VA, and niece, Hannah Agarwal, Bethlehem, PA.

A celebration of Gregory's life will be held on Sunday, February 12th, 3:00PM, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Milton, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine Mission Church. Premier Crematory LLC full service cremations.
